Replacement Power Turret / Power Jack / Socket
This service is only for replacement of a broken laptop power socket.
This is not a service for repair of other laptop faults. Prior to calling make sure the laptop connector is the fault. Signs indicating the connector might be faulty are: 1. Battery wouldn't charge. 2. Battery charge light wouldn't come on (light up) when power is connected. 3. Intermittent charging. 4. When the power lead is wiggled it makes or losses contact. 5. Won't charge unless the lead is held in one position. 6. The pin in the centre of the connector is loose, pushed in or missing. 7. The whole connector is loose, pushed in or missing. 8. Sometimes when power is connected smells of burnt out.
In the majority of the cases when a connector fails either it breaks into pieces or comes off the motherboard because of the pressure applied when plugging in or unplugging the DC power. Please have a look at the photo of repaired jack. It is easy to notice that the replacement connector is slightly different from to the original one and there is a visible nut outside. This type of connector proved to be more solid and robust. Large part of the connector’s contact surface is made of metal and it mounts to the case of the laptop. This way the pressure is taken by the laptop’s plastic chassis and not by the weaker motherboard. Since the link between the new connector and the motherboard is flexible it allows repairing laptops where the track from the board has come off and even if small pieces of the board around the connector had chipped off.
Most of the laptop makes and models repaired. Among those: Toshiba, Acer, HP (Hewlett-Packard), Compaq, Dell, IBM, Fujitsu Siemens, Samsung, LG, Sony, Packard Bell, NEC, Advent, Medion, Gateway, Patriot, Hi-Grade, Philips, Asus, Averatec, Gericom ....
